There’s something undeniably magical about a coastal wedding, though maybe I’m partial to them having grown up in Maine. The salty, tangling breeze; the soft, neutral color palettes.. I love it all. When I was creating the below invitation suite (perfect for Nantucket, Cape Cod, and Martha's Vineyard weddings), I wanted to capture the feeling of being on the coast within all of the tiny details.
1. Line-Drawn Map
A line-drawn map adds both fun and functionality to your invitation suite. Whether it highlights nearby landmarks or actually details your specific venue, a map helps guests feel more connected to your wedding location. I opted to design this particular map with clean, hand drawn lines and an overall minimalistic design, to offer a balance with the watercolor envelope liner.
2. Save-the-Date with Scalloped Edges
Maybe this is a “trendy” element rather than a timeless one, but regardless, I hope scalloped edges are here to stay. They add a subtle nod to ocean waves and a charming, whimsical element while still somehow remaining refined. I paired blue paper with crisp white printing, and think the result is absolutely stunning.
3. Venue Watercolor Envelope Liner
In my opinion, the best compromise of including a watercolor in your invitation suite but still maintaining a minimalistic, classic look is keeping the invitation minimal and highlighting the venue on an invitation liner. Liners are the cherry on top of the sundae, the belt to the pants.. you get the idea.
